Professional Stuff

I am always deepening my knowledge, experience, and training in the psychology, wellness and well-being fields, but here’s some cool professional stats:

  • I am an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (lic#99991)) in the state of California , with over 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist and expert in the psychology field.

  • I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.

  • I have over 10 years of experience as a facilitator of mindfulness and meditation, and am an  authorized facilitator of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress-Reduction), having completed 10-week teacher training at Insight L.A. in 2012.

  • For several years, I led the Mindfulness and Meditation Program at Bridges to Recovery, a residential treatment facility for mood and personality disorders in Los Angeles.

  • In 2021, I was privileged enough to train in Mindfulness-Based Habit Change (MBHC) with world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Judson Brewer

  • I have foundational training in Shinzen Young’s Unified Mindfulness [link] meditation techniques.

  • I have appeared as a featured psychology expert on numerous television shows, on networks such as the Oprah Winfrey Network, Discovery Fit & Health Channel, and The Science Channel.

I have written articles such as "5 Steps to Changing Your Behavior", and done interviews on mindfulness+meditation such as:  Mindfulness Meditation.

Personal Stuff

I am a straight-forward, down-to-earth, strong, smart, wise, fun, compassionate, loving, green tea-drinking mama, wife, daughter, friend, therapist, community-member, body-heart-mind coach/trainer/healer, writer and creative who has always loved helping other humans heal, strengthen, and grow.

(A couple fun facts: before I became a therapist, I was a professional nanny for many years, and then a consultant for a celebrity nanny agency. I also did a little acting on TV and commercials in my younger days).

Just a couple of my weaknesses are that I curse a lot and watch way too many BBC murder shows.

I am originally from Portland, Oregon, but have lived in Los Angeles for over 30 years.

I love (nearly) all things psychology, neuroscience, somatics, wellness and wellbeing.

I have been an avid explorer and/or practitioner of various body-heart-mind-spirit practices for all of my adult life, including but not limited to mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, and yoga.

A few of my core personal values include:

  • Being a good mama to my amazing daughter

  • Being an awesome partner to my wonderful husband

  • Laughing, joking, eating, and connecting with friends and family

  • Nourishing my body-heart-mind and spirit

  • Mindfulness + Meditation + Movement

  • Honoring and connecting with Nature, Mother Earth, and Spirit

  • Personal growth, healing, and life-long learning

  • DEIJ for all humans

  • Helping other humans be their healthiest + happiest selves

  • Living a mindful, grateful, intentional, conscious lifestyle

I’ve been around a while, seen and done some things, been through some things as a woman on this planet…my joy, strength and wisdom are hard-earned, my friends, and I love supporting others on their journey as well!!
